Description

Introducing the Grove - Light Sensor v1.2 – the perfect addition to your DIY or hobby project. This amazing little device can detect a wide spectrum of light from 540nm for ultra-accurate readings, allowing you to easily measure light intensity and response times of up to 20 ~ 30 milliseconds. Whether you plan on using this sensor to measure light in your garden, create a light-controlled switch in your home, or something else entirely, the Grove -Light Sensor v1.2 is certainly worth checking out

The Grove - Light Sensor v1.2 is an analog module and can output various electrical signals which can be converted to different ranges. It integrates an LS06-S photoresistor, a high-sensitive and reliable photodiode, to detect the intensity of light in the environment. It is a perfect Arduino light sensor module for light measurement, light detection, and a light-controlled switch.

As an updated version of Grove - Light Sensor 1.0, the Grove - Light Sensor v1.2 is an analog module and can output various electrical signals which can be converted to different ranges (It depends on the Analog-to-Digital-Converter on your controller board. For example, it can output 0-255 for an 8-bit ADC).

Compared with Grove - Light Sensor 1.0, the Grove - Light Sensor v1.2 is also aimed at measuring light levels, but with higher reliability and sensibility. It replaced the traditional LDR GL5528(light-dependent resistor) with an LS06-S photoresistor, a high-sensitive and reliable photodiode, to detect the intensity of light in the environment. The resistance of photoresistors decreases when the intensity of light increases. Also, a dual OpAmp chip LM358 on board produces a voltage corresponding to the intensity of light(i.e. based on resistance value). The output signal from this module will be HIGH in bright light and LOW in the dark.

And just like other Grove modules, it is interfaced with Grove port which can save you a lot of work in the wiring. It will be a perfect choice if you are looking for a plug-and-play Arduino light sensor apart from the traditional LDR Arduino sensor and Arduino photocell sensor.

Features

  • Recognize wider spectrum: With a light detection range of up to 540 nm, it can detect a much wider spectral range.
  • Quick Response: Up to 20 ~ 30 milliseconds response time to detect light intensity.
  • Higher reliability and sensibility: Based on the LS06-S photoresistor, a high-sensitive and reliable photodiode that can quickly detect the intensity of light in the environment.
  • Low power consumption: 3.3/5V Supply, suitable for many microcontrollers and SBCs.
  • Grove unified socket: The sensor ensures "Plug and Play" and could be versatile for various applications.

Applications

  • Light measurement
  • Light detector
  • Light-controlled switch
  • Smart home device
